{"id":1409,"date":"2025-03-27T18:26:07","date_gmt":"2025-03-27T17:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ricelab.unimi.it\/?page_id=1409"},"modified":"2025-05-20T16:28:28","modified_gmt":"2025-05-20T14:28:28","slug":"stem-elongation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ricelab.unimi.it\/en\/stem-elongation\/","title":{"rendered":"Stem elongation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size\">During flowering induction, florigen proteins that reach the shoot apical meristem promote stem elongation by repressing the expression of the <em>PREMATURE INTERNODE ELONGATION 1<\/em> (<em>PINE1<\/em>) gene, which encodes a transcription factor of the C2H2 family. Suppression of <em>PINE1<\/em> increases the stem\u2019s sensitivity to gibberellins (GA), plant hormones that promote growth, allowing rapid internode elongation. <em>PINE1<\/em> also plays a key role in rice varieties that grow quickly under submerged conditions. By regulating the expression of this gene, we have been able to modify plant height.
